Regional Sales Manager - West Coast
Meet Our Recruiter
About the Role
A couple of years ago, I partnered with a global leader in plant-based functional ingredients to hire a Regional Sales Manager for the East Coast US. Since joining, she’s gone on to achieve real success in the role and was recently promoted into a global key account position.
Following that promotion, we also supported the business in hiring her successor on the East Coast.
Now, a new opportunity is arising on the West Coast.
This hire comes as a highly valued and long-standing member of the commercial team prepares to retire later this year, creating a fantastic opportunity for someone to step into an established region with strong customer relationships and significant potential for further growth.
This is far more than just another sales role. It’s a chance to join a business known globally for quality, innovation, and long-term customer partnerships, while taking ownership of one of its key strategic territories in the US.
What you’ll be doing:
- Turning wider commercial strategy into a clear and focused plan for the West Coast region
- Building and developing relationships with customers ranging from smaller, ambitious businesses through to major multinational accounts
- Leading commercial discussions and negotiations to deliver strong outcomes
- Driving new business activity and converting opportunities into long-term revenue
- Representing the company at trade shows and industry events across the region
- Staying close to market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to shape your commercial approach
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone with a genuine hunter mindset — somebody who enjoys developing new business, opening doors, and building strong customer relationships, while also being capable of growing existing accounts.
You should ideally have:
- At least 10 years’ experience within specialty food ingredients or flavours, rather than commodities
- A strong track record in both new business development and account management
- Experience selling into sectors such as bakery, dairy, and broader food manufacturing
- The ability to manage a customer base ranging from large multinational organisations to smaller, high-growth businesses
- A willingness to travel regularly, meet customers face-to-face, and stay active in the market
- A background in food science, food technology, chemistry, or a related field would be useful, but is not essential
This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading business, inherit a strong region, and play a key role in the next stage of growth across the US.
